Welcome to my website. My name is Bjorn. I’m a Minnesota based photographer, musician, and creative. I decided to launch this site as a home for my work.

Photography has always been a part of my life. My first camera was a mid-80’s fixed lens point-and-shoot camera (an Ansco “Image 2”, I believe) when I was a kid. I carried that camera everywhere. I still remember the noisy film advance that always managed to scare away any animals I was trying to photograph. This was a good early lesson in wildlife photography.

I also heard stories of my maternal grandfather, who had passed long before I was born. My grandfather was a member of The Explorers Club and traveled to nearly every country in the world during the first half of the twentieth century. He was also an avid photographer. My mother has many of his prints and negatives; all organized by country. They are amazing and incredibly inspirational. Someday I’d love to try and recreate some of them in the same locations as they appear now.

My grandfather, somewhere in the Egyptian desert.

Shortly before college, I was gifted a film SLR with a basic zoom lens. That camera traveled with me all across the American West on road trips and camping excursions throughout college. It also provided my first real experience with the exposure triangle and getting creative with photography. A college darkroom class taught me a lot as well.

By this time, music was the driving force for my creative pursuits. My photography was limited to documenting trips and memories. After using a very early Fuji digital camera (2 Megapixels was a big deal at the time), I eventually found my way back to interchangeable lens cameras with my first DSLRs. I was blown away at the quality of images I could get. Landscapes and nature photos became a favorite subject. I also started to seriously explore still life photos and product photography for social media.

As you probably know, film photography is seeing a resurgence. A few years ago, I went back to exploring film, starting with a Nikon FE and, eventually, medium format film. I had forgotten the delayed satisfaction of waiting to see your photos. Also, I fell in love with the colors of some film stocks, especially Ektachrome.

The photos you see on this site are a mixture of digital and film. That will continue to be the case as long as film remains viable. I hope you enjoy these images. I’ll obviously be adding more and expanding the site in the future. That will eventually include prints for purchase, so please check back! Feel free to contact me if you enjoy the site.

Thanks for reading.
